According to Makerere publicist Ritah Namisango, the function will be held at 3:00pm in the Council Room of the Main Building at the campus.
“As per the tradition, the Chairperson of the Makerere University Council, Eng. Dr. Charles Wana Etyem will preside over the ceremony,” Namisango told Chimpreports on Tuesday morning.
The announcement comes four days after Baryamureeba resigned from his academic job to pursue a career in Information Technology and Computer Science in the private sector.
In a letter to the University’s Secretary of the appointments Board which has leaked to media houses, Baryamureeba said: “Just like in outside Universities, I would like after these many years of consecutive service in the University to take a break from University Service.”
The handover ceremony will officially mark the end of Baryamureeba’s reign as acting Vice Chancellor and the beginning of his private sector career.
Baryamureeba has diligently served Makerere for 17 years where he is credited for turning around the troubled institution into a globally reputed centre of academic excellence especially in the field of ICT.
Ddumba’s appointment took effect on September 1.
