Nsanzumukiza, 24, a resident of Rwungo Cell, Rugabano Sector is said to have killed his father, Bizimana alias Munyabarame, 70, using a machete and threw the body in a pit latrine.
It is not yet clear as to why Nsanzumukiza, who is currently detained at Bwishyura Police Station, did this bloody act as neighbours say the two had never had conflict of any kind.
The body of the deceased, which was taken to Kirinda hospital for medical examination, was recovered by area residents, who notified police.
Investigations are still ongoing to identify what could have tempted the suspect to kill his father.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent Theos Badege, who condemned the gruesome act, urged the public to always seek judicial recourse to iron out their differences.
Life, he said, should be valued.
He appealed to everyone to be responsible and report domestic conflicts before they get out of hand, to help authorities prevent such acts from happening.
Nsanzumukiza, who will now be charged with murder, if convicted, will be sentenced to life imprisonment.
