It also commands the Airforce and runs a secret contingent of over 3,000 battle-hardened combatants in what is known as a “war reserve force.”

According to acting army spokesperson Capt. Chris Magezi, the new command is composed of Special Forces One, headed by Magyenyi, which is tasked with VIP protection and Special Forces Two, led by Maj. Don Nabasa, to command the Motorised Infantry.

Muhoozi will be deputized by Col. Sabiiti Magyenyi, commonly known as Muzeeyi in security circles.

Maj. Gen. Fred Mugisha, formerly in charge of the UPDF-led AMISOM peacekeeping mission in Somalia is the new chief of staff, replacing Maj. Gen. Isoke who was last week sent to Juba as Uganda’s envoy.

Former Court Martial boss Brigadier Charles Angina has been promoted to Maj Gen and appointed Chief of Staff Land Forces.

Muhoozi in June completed a six-months training course at the South African National Defence College.

The prestigious military course involved reading, lectures, discussions about national security trends on the continent and various fields of study in the social, economic and security fields among others.

Informed sources say Muhoozi will immediately kick start the training and equipping of one of the most effective special commando units in Africa.

The training ground will be based in Atira sub county, Otuke district and will sit on 300 acres.

They combatants will receive specialized training by Israel and Unites States trainers in extraordinary missions including direct action operations, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance and counter terrorism.
