Besigye told press at the party headquarters on Monday that he was ready to work with any member who would be voted for by the NEC members as the party’s leader.

Besigye said the public should not fear that the internal elections will cause division among the party members.

The FDC stalwart expressed confidence that party members are aware of the lines of limit that should be crossed during the campaigns and that no negative campaigns shall be allowed during the campaigns.

He also enlightened the public that FDC is not looking for the 2016 election flag bearer but rather someone to actively run all the party activities.

He added that any member of the party is free to stand and contest for being the party’s flag bearer even though he owns no leadership position in the party in 2015.

“Nothing therefore hinders me to contest for presidency in 2016,” he clarified when asked to explain whether he would stand for re-election.

Besigye has stood against Museveni and lost in three elections.
