EXCLUSIVE: Gen. Aronda’s Chat With Nahamya Before UPDF Chopper Crash

unhealthy geneva; font-size: small;”>These exclusive pictures were taken at Entebbe Air Base during a ceremony where Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Aronda Nyakairima was seeing off a contingent of Air Force personnel to Somalia.

Shortly before takeoff, Aronda shook hands with every soldier as he encouraged them to maintain the highest level of discipline, alertness, courage and determination to bring about peace in the war torn Somalia.

However, he spent a few minutes engrossed in a discussion with Patrick Nahamya.

Aronda: Nahamya, are you brave enough?

Nahamya: Yes, General, I am very brave and strong.

Aronda: Where were you trained?

Nahamya: I trained from Israel and Russia. I am stronger than ever before

Aronda: Keep strong and have a safe flight.

Sadly, Nahamya did not make it to Somalia. His chopper crashed in Mt. Kenya on Sunday. His body was recovered by Kenya authorities on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Defence and the UPDF regret to inform the country of the tragic demise of our comrades Captain William Letti and Lt Patrick Nahamya who died in a helicopter accident in Mt Kenya areas.

Capt. William Letti and Lt Patrick Nahamya were Pilot and Co-Pilot of

Helicopter no AF 806, MI 24.
