MP Turyahikayo In Critical Condition At Nakasero Hospital

pills geneva; font-size: small;”>The PR Office has received news of Hon. Paula Turyahikayo’s involvement in a head-on motor accident in Rukungiri, while she was driving to a function this morning.

She had traveled to Rukungiri from Kampala yesterday morning.

She sustained serious neck injuries and has intense chest pain, and has fractured her arms. She is currently hospitalized in Rukungiri Hospital, but is reported by the doctors to be out of danger (stable Condition).

Plans are underway to airlift her to a Kampala Hospital later today.

4:43: According to eyewitnesses, the Rukungiri-bound taxi saloon car rammed into a government vehicle in which Turyahikayo was travelling.

This vehicle belongs to the Ministry of Energy where the MP’s husband Paul Turyahikayo works.

At the time of the accident, Paul was not in the car.

The MP had travelled from Kampala to meet her constituents.

At 4:45pm, family friends told news desk that Turyahikayo was fatally injured and chances of living for another day are minimal.

“Our MP’s arms and legs have been broken. Her chest is swelling rapidly and sustained grave wounds on her head. You cannot even recognize her face. She is in coma,” a grief-struck family friend told us via telephone.

“As I speak now, we are in Omukagasha play ground in Rukungiri municipality. Turyahikayo family has just chartered a helicopter to airlift the bleeding legislator to Kampala for emergency treatment,” the source further said.

4:20pm: Disturbing news coming in now indicates that Rubabo Member of Parliament Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo has Friday been injured in a fatal accident in Rukungiri district.

The incident occurred today afternoon when a vehicle in which Turyahikayo was travelling in collided with a small saloon car at Kiborogota – on the border between Kebisoni and Buyanja Sub-county.

Four people died on spot while two others succumbed to over bleeding shortly after being admitted Nyakibaale hospital.

Six people were pronounced dead shortly after being admitted at Nyakibaale Hospital, according Rukungiri residents.
