Special Forces Deserters Arrested In Foiled Armed Robbery

Four gunmen were intercepted with a stolen car as they attempted to rob a bank in Ntinda.

A member of this deadly squad used a pistol to shoot at cops but was swiftly overwhelmed by police operatives’ heavy fire.

One of the robbers was injured.

The suspects are currently under police safe custody as inquires progress.

Police investigations indicate that one businessman Ronnie Mutesaasira was shot in the leg by the assailants and was rushed to hospital for immediate medical attention.

Mutesaasira has since been discharged and recorded a statement with the police.

The Uganda Police Force has set up a team of detectives called the Violent Crimes Intelligence and Operations Unit which is tasked with the duty of fighting violent crimes like the recent murders in Kampala.

The development confirms reports that army deserters are partly responsible for the recent spate of murders in the country.

So far 14 suspects have been arrested in regard to the numerous violent crimes committed.
