In this award-winning masterpiece, we reported that Mugisha had spent the weekend in New York, United States where she officially announced her end of an online campaign against President Yoweri Museveni’s government.

“I will be removing myself from all Internet groups related to 4GC and A4C until the groups settle in with new administration,” Mugisha posted on new pressure group For God and My Country (4GC).

She added: “There are a lot of competent people who can run these groups and I am sure they will rise to the challenge. I am therefore retiring before I am pushed from the moderator role.”

“I leave you all in the capable hands of Charley Makmot and wish you success in this struggle for freedom and justice. CIAO!”

Realising that this was an overreaction, we chose to make some phone calls to our sources to find the story behind the story.

We then established that Mugisha had officially thrown in a towel in opposition politics to enable State house facilitate her personal interests.

That’s how, in our story, we came to the conclusion: “Chimp political experts say Mugisha could be sending a big signal to the opposition that she is quitting…The move has rattled opposition supporters as fears abound Mugisha could be switching to the ruling NRM party.”

Shortly after publishing the story, Chimpreports.com faced a hostile response from FDC supporters who accused us of peddling lies and NRM propaganda.

Interestingly, today Daily Monitor published some details of a letter authored by Mugisha in which she officially announces quitting Col. Kizza Besigye’s camp before begging Museveni to endorse her for the Public Information Officer position with the UN Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS).

Letter to President

“In an April 30, 2012 letter to President Museveni, Ms Mugisha promised to abandon politics and adhere to UN values of neutrality, loyalty, transparency, diligence and high integrity,” Daily Monitor reported.

She also explained personal circumstances that prompted her to take up UN employment instead of hanging onto opposition politics.

“I am writing to request your clearance for an appointment to a position with the United Nations, she told Mr Museveni.

“I am putting an end to twelve years of opposition activism in order to concentrate on building a career with the UN and this position in UNPOS offers an invaluable entry point.”

Following this assurance, sources familiar with the behind-the-scene manoeuvres told Daily Monitor Mr Museveni instructed Uganda’s diplomats at the UN headquarters in New York to clear Ms Mugisha.

Amb. Adonia Ayebare, the acting Permanent Representative to the UN, then wrote in the first week of May to inform Amb. Mahiga that Uganda government had no objection with Ms Mugisha’s eligibility for the Nairobi post.

The development confirms Chimpreports.com as the leading source of secret information in the corridors of opposition, security and the ruling party.

As we write this, the saga has sparked a storm in the opposition, with many labeling Mugisha a traitor.

Richard Mutazindwa said: “Do u think you can be endorsed by M7 to work there when you are not his supporter? Do you know how such a job is received? Man come-on.”

Pearl Akello, a vibrant opposition activist said: “IN CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT, IF I TELL YOU THAT THE PROBLEM IN UGANDA IS POVERTY, DONT YOU EVER ARGUE. WHY WOULD ANYONE SELL THEIR SOUL TO THE DEVIL FOR MONEY IF THEY HAVE IT? POVERTY IS BOTH MATERIAL, SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL.”

Observers say unless Col. Besigye finds a source of revenue to facilitate the work of his top leaders, they will always fall prey to fatty cheques being dangled in their eyes by NRM.

Feeling humiliated, Mugisha is not ready to give comments to any media house.
