A somber mood hang over Parliament on Monday as MPs bid farewell and celebrated the life of Oromait.
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Kadaga Rebecca, described Oromait as a committed legislator who passionately struggled to ensure his constituents had access to social services.
“He was very passionate on Medicare, social infrastructure, roads and bridges. Oromait was committed to ensuring total peace for his people in the Karamoja sub region,” the Speaker noted.
The Deputy Leader of Government Business Hon. Moses Ali, in a motion to pay tribute to the late described him as a distinguished civil servant who served in the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda Posts and Telecommunications before joining Parliament.
The Leader of the Opposition Hon. Nandala Mafabi who quoted the bible preached tolerance among all Ugandans as he joined MPs to celebrate the life of Oromait.
“We must tolerate each other despite the different creeds we uphold. Let us allow moral virtues to play a pivotal role in our lives. Let us stop the cancer of corruption that has eaten the moral fiber of our country,” he told legislators and mourners in the Parliament chamber.
“Be prepared always, because you don’t know the day or the hour when death comes-it’s like a thief and indeed death has again robbed us,” said Mafabi as he eulogized MP Oromait.
