this web geneva;”>Mao said NRM, order whose candidate Alintuma Nsambu lost to DP’s Mathias Nsubuga by a margin of at least 1,000 votes in last week’s hotly contested race, does not have a case to present to court.
Mao said that instead, NRM will be provoking DP to display all the election malpractices that were exhibited during and before elections.
“Police officers were seen escorting NRM members who were giving out sugar, salt, soap and money to voters as well as the Kiboko squad torturing those who would refuse the bribes,” said Mao.
He further said NRM should come out and explain how Alintuma managed to acquire over 10,000 if it was not by rigging, intimidation and bribing of voters.
“Many DP members were arrested and doused with teargas as they guarded their votes and all this shows that NRM deputy electoral commission chairman Dr. Elijah Mushemeza and the NRM at large don’t have a case in court but rather wait to be sued by DP after its celebrations,” charged Mao.
On other hand, the newly elected Bukoto South MP, Mathias Nsubuga thanked all his supporters, DP members and the press who helped to guard the elections against what he described as the NRM rigging machinery.
Nsubuga also heaped praises on NRM members such as Mohammed Nsereko and others who mobilized financial support for him during the campaigns.
The NRM yesterday congratulated Nsubuga upon winning the election.
