The incident happened on Wednesday when Portia Mbabazi Karegeya was returning to Europe for studies after a trip to Mbarara where she had visited her grandmother.
Police publicist Asuman Mugenyi was not readily available for comment.
However, impeccable sources have confirmed that Rwanda on May 14 cancelled Portia’s ordinary passport number PC071818.
In a letter to all embassies, National Central Bureau (NCB) for Rwanda (department of the Criminal Investigation Commission) said it had revoked the citizenship of 25 Rwandans including Portia Karegeya.
“Kindly alert all your immigration authorities that the above passports have been cancelled and consequently declared null and void,” said NCB in letter to all embassies across the world.
Family friends told Chimpreports.com that Portia is now residing with relatives in Uganda.
Karegeya took off to exile after developing misunderstandings with the Kigali establishment.
