ed geneva;”>My name is Abdul Muluba aka City Don, aged 32. I was born in Arua and attended Arua Hill School up to Primary Seven. I reside in Makindye, a Kampala suburb. My best dish is Kalo (millet) and Pilau. I take spirits.

When did you join the music industry?

It was in 2002. I have been singing since then. My lyrics include “Songa Mbele,” “Money,” “Close up,” “Chako ni changu,” and “First one.”

What inspired you to join the music bandwagon?

You see when I left Congo, I came to Kampala. I used to be Jose Chameleone’s friend. We even stayed together for some time.

I loved his works so much. He was my best friend especially between 2002 and 2004. That’s how I developed the urge for singing Reggae and Raga.

Apart from singing, what else do you do for a living?

(Laughs). By the way I do not get money from singing. I am still investing. I hope to benefit in future. It’s like business, you invest and reap in future. But I deal in cars.

I import cars from Japan which I sell in Uganda and South Sudan.

Is it a lucrative business?

Yes, it is if you are honest and hardworking. I get some good profits from selling cars.

Are you married?

(Smiles). Not yet. May be in the not-too-distant future.

What’s your view on wrangles among singers in Uganda?

It’s not good to fight each other in the music industry. We should instead support each other. If we fight who will help the other? Musicians should behave responsibly.

What’s your dream car?

A convertible Mercedes Benz.

Where do you normally hangout?

At Cayenne in Bukoto, Guvnor (Industrial Area), Rock Gardens and Nyondo Pub along Entebbe Road.

Who is your best international musician?

Buju Man. I love his music. Locally, I love Judith Babirye.

One word to your fans…

I think government should enforce copyright laws so that we benefit from our sweat. You can invest let’s say Shs2m in shooting a video but get nothing. I love my fans; they should keep supporting Don City.
