Kizza Besigye is back in the country to join Tayebwa’s victory celebrations in Kampala.
Dozens of the FDC ironman’s supporters have reportedly travelled to Kampala to dine and wine with their new representative who gave a resounding blow to NRM flag-bearer Nasser Basajjabalaba in the recently-concluded by-elections.
Tayebwa polled 7048 votes, beating his main rival Nasser, whose election was disqualified, by over 2000 votes in a hotly contested race.
Nasser trailed with 5665 votes, followed by Robert Bwarare, an independent with 255 votes and Ismail Kakurwe with a paltry 16 votes.
The court of appeal in April ordered fresh elections in the municipality after the judges found Nasser to have indulged in voter bribery during the 2011 Parliamentary election campaigns.
