The duo is currently detained at Kampala central Police Station (CPS).
The incident occurred at around 9:30am.
Munyagwa had led a group of Mayors in the central region to the Constitutional Square, protesting what they described as police’s brutal conduct during the arrest of their Kampala city counterpart Erias Lukwago.
Lukwago was a fortnight ago manhandled by police as he inquired why security forces were evicting traders from a prime city plot along Entebbe Road.
Lukwago’s efforts to stop the eviction were fruitless.
A few days after the incident, Munyagwa announced mayors would soon hold a march in the city to protest Lukwago’s harassment if police fell short of apologizing over the incident.
He also threatened to stage a hunger strike at the Constitutional Square.
Police never regretted the confrontation.
Munyagwa has for long been a big thorn in police’s flesh. He has been holding joint city rallies with Lukwago and FDC leader Col. Kizza Beisgye.
