On June 5, the lawyers dispatched an intention to sue letter registered as OHA/Gen/218/2012 to Cindy, instructing her to apologise over the Facebook post.

“It’s within your knowledge that you have on several occassions by writing, speaking and other means unlawfully published defamatory information concerning our client with intent to attack his good reputation. You made ungrounded and baseless allegations to the effect that our client paid you in fake dollars whilst on your tour in India,” reads the letter in part.

The lawyers further claim: “You as well published our cient’s photo under the fore quoted text. Note that thy defamatory publications have exposed our client to hatred, contempt and ridicule; the same acts have injured his trade as our client’s hitherto associates are afraid of transacting with him. He is considered risky to deal with on which premise we regard your actions as contrary to the law and thus actionable.”

Cindy has as well been told to take notice that the appropriate panacea in the circumstances is for her to make an apology, withdrawing the statements.

“The same apology must be served in our chambers and on all media houses which have captured, received, published and aired thy defamatory and deragatory statements against our client. Take further notice that you must furnish in our chambers Shs80m in respect of damages so far suffered by our client plus Shs8m as our instruction fees.”

Efforts to reach Cindy for a comment were futile as her mobile phone was off. She is said to be in Malaysia.
