here geneva;”>10:00am: At least 15 topless women activists have been detained for protesting the manner in which opposition women league boss Ingrid Turinawe was arrested last Friday.
Led by iron lady Barbara Allimadi, the women, who were only dressed in bras and skirts, were detained at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS).
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi has confirmed the arrests.
“Yes, we have arrested them for holding an unlawful assembly. The matter is under investigations,” Ssenkumbi told Chimpreports.com.
Ugandans over the weekend expressed their outrage on Social Networking websites Facebook and Twitter over the brutal arrest in which Ingrid’s breast was mercilessly squeezed by police officers.
They also fondled her thighs as Ingrid resisted arrest during a political rally organized by pressure group A4C, now rebranded to For God and My Country (4GC).
Enraged by the incident, women activists on Monday chose to strip naked with the view of embarrassing police.
They also carried play cards, bashing police for its inhuman treatment of Ingrid during the arrest.
The daring ladies also asked IGP Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura to apologise over the incident lest such protests will be the order of the day.
The Police Force has since suspended the officers who were on duty, according to Ssenkumbi.
The shameless cops were photographed and caught red handed in a video footage as they mercilessly twisted Turinawe’s breasts and lustfully massaged her attractive thighs.
As all this happened, Turinawe was whimpering in agonizing pain. “What have I done? Please stop squeezing my breasts. It’s very painful. Please stop. The pain is too much. What have I done to deserve this treatment? It’s inhuman,” she screamed as cops tried to forcefully get her out of the car.
Turinawe was later forced into a waiting police van thus driving her at breakneck speed to Kampala Central Police Station where she was released on police bond following the intervention of Mayor Erias Lukwago and MP Ibrahim Nganda.
Critics say while opposition leaders have in the past incited violence at political rallies, fondling Turinawe’s breasts was the least expected from a police force that claims being professional.
