This comes a day after Ochan turned down prosecution’s plea to amend the charges by including destruction of property and rioting.

The youth have been charged with terrorism. They reportedly attacked Nateete Police station before burning it down during the deadly 2009 riots that shook the central region.

There was mayhem in Buganda region in 2009 when hundreds of youth violently took to the streets to protest government’s decision barring Kabaka Ronald Mutebi from travelling to Kayunga for a cultural function.

Government argued then that Kabaka’s life was in danger since Kayunga had expressed determination to secede from Buganda.

The arrested youth have since been detained at Luzira prison.
