order geneva; font-size: small;”>The trio was last December charged with abuse of office and causing financial loss to the tune of Shs14 billion during the tendering process for the renovation of Speke Resort Munyonyo ahead of the 2007 Common Wealth Meeting in Kampala.

The new ruling could pave way for the return of the trio to Cabinet. They had stepped aside to allow investigations into the matter.

The NRM officials had questioned the IGG’s legitimacy in prosecuting them since the inspectorate lacked Coram.

They also sought guidance on whether the Magistrate’s court had powers to cancel bail upon committal of a suspect to High Court for trial. The Constitutional Court said the Magistrate does not weild such authority.

The officials’ face beamed with joy shortly after the ruling.
