The development signals a sophisticated nature of the iron bar syndicate in Kampala.

Detectives tell that at least 231 murders have been recorded in Kampala since December 2011.

During the festive season, a boda boda motorist was hit by iron-bar wielding men in Katwe, a Kampala suburb. He was found lying in a pool of blood.

A few days later, an unidentified man was struck with iron bars in Kinawataka, Kampala. He was found dead in a roadside trench.

Other iron-bar related crimes have lately been reported in Bwaise, Kajjansi, Entebbe and Luzira.
