Rwanda Police Arrest Motorist Over Cop Bribe

Ndizeye was ticketed and left. He later found the Policeman’s number through one Donath Ahorukomeye and called seeking for a meeting.

When the two met Ndizeye requested the Police officer to rescind the ticket in exchange for Frw 15,000.

The Police officer immediately arrested Ndizeye and escorted him to Gasaka Police Station.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Theos Badege said that it was immoral for a public servant to bribe a Police officer.

“Such incidences should serve as a warning to those who intend to bribe police officers,” Badege said.

If convicted, Ndizeye is likely to be charged with attempting to bribe a law enforcer. The crime is sentenced between two and five years according to article 14 Law N? 23/2003 of 07/08/2003 related to the punishment of corruption and related offences.
