4 Children Killed in Lira Accident

Four people were killed in the accident

Four children were killed in a tragic accident in Lira town on Monday evening.

According to David Ongom  Mudong, nurse the North Kyoga Police spokesperson, buy information pills    three of the perished children were riding on a boda boda motorcycle registration number UEC 533R from Aloi in Alebtong district heading to their respective schools.

A bus belonging to Rock Transporters, about it registration number UAU 420 V heading to Gulu, ran over the motorcycle killing them and the rider instantly.

Ongom stated that the accident was caused by bad driving of the bus driver who veered off the road and knocked the victims.

Preliminary police findings blame the accident on over speeding on the part of the bus driver.

Police identified the deceased children as Cissy Akello, a primary four pupil of Rima Primary School in Lira, her brother, Denis Odoch, a senior two student of Buluge Comprehensive Secondary School, and an unidentified baby class pupil of Rima Nursery and primary school.

The boda boda rider was identified as Francis Ongom. According to a local radio, Voice of Lango FM, all the three perished children belong to a same parent and their father named as Charles Ogwok, a resident of Aloi in Alebtong district and also the Director of studies at Rima Nursery and primary school.

The accident occurred in Angweta-angwet along Lira- Soroti High way just in front of Rima primary school. Police took the bodies of the children to the mortuary of Lira Regional Referral hospital.

The bus was also impounded the by the police leaving passengers stranded on the road.
