“Agaba is now in cells at Jinja Road Police Station. His bond expired today. The decision to prosecute him will be taken tomorrow. We expect the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to communicate to us anytime from now,” Ssenkumbi tells Chimpreports.com news desk.
Agaba was on January 22 arrested for spearheading a violent demolition of illegal business structures in Port Bell, Luzira, in which Onyango lost his life and others sustained severe injuries.
The KCCA boss had travelled with a trigger-happy cop identified as Makmot Komakech Santos, who fired live bullets into the crowd that was protesting the demolition exercise.
Agaba neither restrained Komakech nor notified police on time that he would carry out the demolition exercise.
However, Agaba was let free on January 25, a decision that sparked huge public outcry.
His partner in crime Komakech was last week charged with murder before Nakawa Grade I Court Magistrate Gladys Kabasanyu.
Police boss Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura had earlier assured Luzira residents Makmot and Agaba would face the full wrath of the law.
