The grand finale rally is planned for Saturday January 28.

Kampala Police Commander Andrew Kaweesi said had communicated to the President’s office over the Kololo rally.

He noted the grounds are under the supervision of the President’s office.

“I am waiting for their response. I have no problem with that rally but the President’s office must first clear it. That is our position as of now,” Kaweesi told press today January 23 at Kampala Central Police Station.

The development could deepen the rift between opposition and police. Col. Besigye last weekend told a rally in Kireka that cops who arrested him at Katongo office were drug addicts.

“That is a bangi police squad,” Besigye revealed.

It’s very unclear whether the President’s office will give a nod for the rally to take place. The President’s spokesperson Tamale Mirundi is not picking our phone calls.

Opposition leaders insist they will gather at Kololo by force.
