“Chimpreports.com has very authoritative information. You are doing a very great job,” Rugunda said.

He was on January 13 meeting the three-months-old website’s editor Giles Muhame at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Rugunda encouraged Ugandans to visit the website which specializes in breaking news, politics, sports, entertainment and news analysis in East Africa.

Muhame told Rugunda the website has a monthly readership of one million vistors.

Rugunda’s statements come at a time when the website’s readership is surging at a spectacular speed.

December statistics showed the website has registered more 250,000 visitors compared to November.

Muhame attributed this to a newly developed application (Chimpreports.com/mobile) where one can access the website on one’s cell phone.

Rugunda is not the first to appreciate the great work done by three lads and two ladies at the website’s headquarters in Kampala.

A few days ago we reported that a firebrand UPC MP Benson Obua-Ogwal had vowed to remove his party President Olara Otunnu from office.

The legislator responded: “In as much as I really don’t consider myself a firebrand, your rendering of the episodes are impressive indeed. I never knew of this publication till today. I’ve toured your site and read a lot of back issues. Great!!!”
