physician geneva;”>A highly placed source in State House says Otunnu is being helped by Presidential advisor Chris Rwakasisi to destroy UPC once and for all.
In a statement released today Tuesday, Otunnu says he has replaced Rurangaranga with Prof. Edward Kakonge.
Otunnu does not give reason for the sacking but insiders say his hold on the party is hanging by threads.
Otunnu further says Rev. Father Hon. Dr Jacinto Ogwal, MP, has been appointed Secretary General. This follows the firing of John Odit last week.
“He takes over from the Acting Secretary General, David Baliraine, who continues with his substantive portfolio as National Workers Leader,” Otunnu says.
The Cabinet reshuffle has also cost Moses Nuwagaba’s job as deputy spokesperson.
“Nuwagaba is being reassigned to other duties,” Otunnu notes, adding, “the changes indicated above take effect immediately.”
He further clarifies: “Robert Kanusu is not serving as press secretary or spokesperson for the Party Cabinet or Party President.”
Political observers are stunned by Otunnu’s temerity as he continues to fire top officials from left, right and centre.
In the meantime, Rurangaranga has summoned the delegates’ conference in January to seal Otunnu’s fate.
