The Ndejje University Bursar and Sports Tutor, Paul Mark Kayongo confirmed the development. He said the Prime Minister now joins Prof. Gordon Wavamunno and five corporates that have offered to bankroll the games.
Wavamunno donated Shs20m, Prime Suppliers Shs4m, Resort 2000 restaurant Shs1.5m, Ndejje SS Shs500, 000, Willis Uganda Shs500, 000 and Wava Water to provide the mineral water for the entire Games.
Hosts Ndejje University has bankrolled the games with an injection of Shs600m out of Shs900m earmarked for the Games.
In another development, the National University Sports Federation of Uganda (NUSFU) has temporarily admitted Bishop Stuart and Kabale University participation in the university games at Ndejje.
NUSFU Assistant General Secretary, Florence Nakamya said the federation’s executive meeting held in Kampala allowed the two universities to take part in the event but the final decision await approval by the general assembly due to convene in February 2012.
She also disclosed that two universities, Cavendish and East Africa had pulled out but after showing earlier interest to take part in the games. This brings the total number of participants to 2500 after the withdrawal of the two new universities.
