Gunshots As Katwe Traders Riot Over Massive Load-shedding


Eye witnesses say five traders have been slightly injured in the fracas. The rioters used stones and metallic substances to attack anti-riot police officers.

The stand-off, ampoule which paralysed traffic and brought bussiness to a halt, pill lasted for about thirty minutes. This is not the first time traders in Kampala are staging riots over low supply of electricty.

Early this month, traders along Nasser and Nkrumah streets staged running battles with police as they protested the massive load-shedding.

President Yoweri Museveni has since said Bujagali Power dam will be opened before christmas with the view of curbing power shortfalls that have crippled the country’s economy.
