DP MP Issa Kikungwe says the win was hugely expected. He advised the losers to accept defeat.
“NRM has threatened to go to court. We encourage them to respect the decision of the people of Luweero. They will lose again if they go to court, web http://cloud.ca/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/import-xml.php ” Kikungwe told this website today in Kampala.
DP’s victory will surely send a strong signal to the ruling NRM party to revise their campaign methods.
President Yoweri Museveni has since boasted Luweero is a stronghold of NRM.
During his trip to Luweero last week, Museveni encouraged residents to vote overwhelmingly for Nalwanga, saying opposition are mere peddlers of lies.
FDC’s Ziada Gwokyalya scored a paltry 3775 votes.
The votes have been released by district returning officer Peter Kasozi.
The exercise was ordered by court after Nalwanga was found guilty of bribing voters.
