Gov't Braces For record-Breaking Tourism Promotion

While receiving Qatar Airways officials the Prime Minister described Uganda as a land of opportunities, and welcomed the new airline into the Pearl of Africa. Mr Mbabazi, however, noted that although Uganda was rated the number-one tourist destination in the world she has not adequately marketed her tourism potential.

He said the arrival of Qatar Airways into Ugandan skies was a sign of investor and tourist confidence in the country’s economy that should be exploited.

The Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, Mr Akbar Al-Baker revealed that at least 300 Ugandans had already landed jobs on the new airline which launched daily direct Doha-Entebbe flights on Wednesday.

During the meeting the Minister for General Duties, Dr Khiddu Makubuya said the daily Qatar Airways flights in and out of Entebbe would give passengers a variety of choice in travel means. The meeting also attracted the State Minister for Transport, Dr Stephen Chebrot.

In attendance were the Director of Al Rashid Investments, Mr Sibtien Ali Bhai, the Director of Africa Middle East Resources, Mr Aboobacker Mohammad and the Qatar Airways Security Manager, Mr Ramayah Subramaniam.
