This development comes after there were reports that Mbabazi loyalists were planning to embarrass the President possibly at the bridge due to the delay in its reconstruction and Rukungiri-Kanungu road which is currently in sorry state.

When contacted, the Resident District Commissioner, Kanungu District Martin Mugabi told ChimpReports that security in the area would be increased even more to ensure the safety of the Head of State as he tours the district.

The District Police Commander, Peter Ongwara also said that Police had intensified night patrols in the district to weed out any criminals who would want to disturb peace and security in the district during the President’s visit.

President Museveni will tomorrow (Wednesday) officiate at the ground breaking ceremony for the re-construction of the Mitano Bridge which broke down in early 2012.

Museveni will also engage resident tea and coffee farmers on how best they can use the infrastructural developments in the area to increase their household incomes and as well tour several Government projects
