Mwenda’s admirers and critics usually use social media platforms to express their endorsements and criticism of Mwenda’s opinions on Newsnight.

Several people including veteran journalist, Wafula Oguttu, have since called upon NTV to open up for other opinion leaders to dissect issues of national interest on Newsnight rather than providing Mwenda a monopoly of the prime show.

The former FDC president on Thursday took to Facebook, saying the “bottom line for a Media house should be balanced reporting.”

Besigye added: “Mr Andrew Mwenda is, officially, a servant/ advisor of Mr. Museveni and his NRM regime.”

Mwenda maintains he a journalist and proprietor of the current affairs, Independent Magazine.

But Besigye says, “Ethical responsibility would require NTV to have him (Mwenda) together with or alternating with a person from the opposition. Unless, of course, it’s a paid-for (Commercial) spot; whereby, they ought to be transparent and declare so.”

Observers say Besigye’s remarks are likely to ignire a fiery response from Mwenda, who has on several occassions used newspaper columns to criticise the opposition figure’s political strategy ahead of the 2016 elections.
