drug geneva;”>During the recent NRM consultative meeting at Ikumba Parish in Rubanda constituency told off teachers in the district that despite their continued demand of salary payrise from government, they have continued to underperform in their duties where many are always spotted in gardens during school working hours.

This has prompted teachers in the district under their umbrella body, UNATU Kabale branch to pile pressure against Banyenzaki demanding that he withdraws his statement and makes an apology.

While appearing on the Kabale based Hope radio talk show program, The UNATU Kabale branch chairman Zaddock Tumuhimbise, blasted the minister and accused him of witch-hunting teachers.

Tumuhimbise noted that the minister has on several occasions resorted to abusing them and inciting parents against them an act they say cannot be tolerated any further.

The Uganda National teachers’ union labor relations officer Philbert Baguma told Chimpreports that the Minister has overstepped his boundaries and should immediately apologize to the teachers or else face their wrath.

“We the shapers of the nation feel very annoyed by the words of Hon. Banyenzaki and are demanding for an apology or else we shall forward the matter to concerned authorities,” Baguma revealed.

However, Banyenzaki has responded by writing to the District Chief Administrative Officer, Frank Ntaho calling for disciplinary actions against Tumuhimbise accusing him of ridiculing him on air waves.

According to Banyenzaki’s letter to the CAO obtained by this website, the minister accuses Tumuhimbise for attacking him in person saying that he only engaged parents and children to embrace the UPE and USE program.

Banyenzaki further challenged the legality of Tumuhimbise’s chairmanship to UNATU saying since he is the Head teacher of Nyekunama Primary school, by law he is not allowed to be the Chairpaerson of UNATU.

He directed police and other authorities to investigate claims that Tumuhimbise has been encouraging teachers to abscond from duty thus sabotaging government programs.
