China Boosts Sickle Cells Fight with $600,000 Equipment


here geneva; font-size: small; line-height: 150%;”>The equipment, order worth $600, 000 will be used by the Uganda-China Friendship Hospital at Naguru that was established to reduce on the overwhelming patient numbers at Mulago referral hospital.

Handing over the equipments to the hospital, the Chinese envoy to Uganda Zhao Yali said the move is intended to boost the health sector in Uganda through provision of the best quality services.

“We are providing this equipment to fulfill our promise that we shall always move in partnership towards achieving a common goal of improving health in Uganda,” Zhayo said.

On her part, the state minister for Primary Health Care, Sarah Opendi said the equipment is so vital with the increasing population of Uganda and that it will help in diagnosing some diseases like sickle cells, hepatitis A and E, HIV and DNA tests which are a big challenge to national development.
