According to Police Publicist, Polly Namaye, residents of Nyakayojo had made an alarm to the area police that a suspected bomb had been sighted near Nyakayojo Health Centre III.

Police warned them to keep away from the scene and to keep their electronic gadgets at a distance since they can easily trigger off a bomb explosion.

“The police responded immediately and discovered that the suspected bomb was only a log (about 5kg) tied in a piece of cloth with pieces of threads nailed to it. The log then was wrapped in a piece of cloth with a black polythene bag around it, in what some people have concluded was an act of witchcraft,” said Namaye.

Police recently diffused a grenade which was hurled inside a man’s bedroom by unknown assailants in Namugongo, Kampala.

Namaye said police has removed the log before reassuring the public of their security.

“The police would like to commend the public for being vigilant and for reporting the suspicious item in time.

The police therefore encourage every single Ugandan to be alert especially at this time when the terror threat is very real and very high to give information of anything suspicious to the nearest police for quick timely intervention.”
