Chimpreports understands unknown gunmen opened fire at Ssemuse as he drove to his home in Kiteezi along Gayaza road in Wakiso district.
Ssemuse who was driving an Isuzu Brand lorry registration number UAT 397H died on spot while his turn boy identified as Ali Kawalya sustained serious injuries in the shooting.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said the incident occurred at around 11:00pm as the two men were approaching their residence.
“Apparently the two victims were returning from work when two unknown gunmen approached their truck and shot Ssemuse twice in the chest. He died instantly whereas Kawalya was shot in the leg,” said Onyango.
He said the assailants took off on a motorcycle.
“We are looking for the two killers and the rifle they used to carry out the crime. However we are still wondering what their intentions were because they sped off without taking anything yet the truck contained some items,” said Onyango.
He further revealed that of late Police have recorded murders of this style, where assailants use motorcycles to shoot their targets.
Recently, Police informer Hajji Ssebaggala was shot as he approached his home in Lungujja, Nateete, Wakiso District.
He was an informer for Operation Wembley an anti-crime security organ established to crack down on armed criminal gangs.
A suspect was last week arrested in Ssebaggala’s murder.
