Bukenya: I Want to Lead Opposition Alliance in 2016

The Busiro North Member of Parliament reiterated he will stand against President Museveni come 2016 on an independent ticket.

However, he was quick to add that he cannot refuse an opportunity from the opposition to command their political forces against his former boss the 2016 poll.


Bukenya, who was sacked as Vice President and thrown behind bars for awarding a controversial contract during preparations for the 2007 Commonwealth meeting in Kampala, told this website that once endorsed, he is “very ready to lead the proposed opposition alliance because it is the only way to defeat president Museveni.”

He added: “I have all that it takes to bring victory for the opposition; I have numbers, governance, experience and wide international exposure to deliver change of statusquo. I will deliver a revolutionary message of hope to deliver poor Ugandans from poverty.”


He on a similar note, he called upon members of the general public who oppose Museveni’s 2016 Presidential bid to “come on board and rally behind me in a joint effort to end the NRM regime.”


Commenting on requests by the youth that he faces the disciplinary committee for backing opposition caniddate Brendah Nabukenya in the recent Luweero Woman by-election, Bukenya charged: “I am not anybody’s son to face any disciplinary action. Whoever wants to discipline me should simply kick me out of the NRM party.”
