Igga’s remarks contradict claims by Ugandan officials that Juba funds all UPDF operations in the youngest country in the world.


Igga further pointed out that South Sudan will continue to hold reconciliation meeting in all parts of the country as a way of continuing to win the support of the people from all corners.


“We are going to have simultaneous meetings with the rebels to ensure that fighting is put to an end until the formation of a new government is finalized,” he added.


Uganda maintains the elite Special Forces units in South Sudan to guard Juba International Airport and key state installations.


UPDF have as well fought and defeated Machar’s rebels in the town of Bor, effectively protecting President Salva Kiir’s government from collapsing.
