Turyamureeba of bringing divisions among his flock by accusing some of them of practicing witchcraft and sending him demons including one Reverend James Baruhize.
In their letter dated 5th May 2014 addressed to the bishop of Kigezi diocese Rt. Reverend George Bagamuhunda, they accuse Venerable Turyamureeba and his group of Christians who call themselves Christians of the Holy Spirit of tarnishing Rev. Baruhize’s name by claiming that he sends them evil spirits.
Reverend Baruhize was reportedly recently forbidden from sitting at the altar being accused of being a sorcerer that should not sit in the holy place saying that when he gets nearer to them he hinders the power of the Holy Spirit however he was later brought back forcefully by the other faction of believers.
Rev. Turyamureeba and the director of compassion international on the 3rd may 2014 dismissed one Robert Niwagaba, a worker with compassion who is the same time the neighbor of Rev. Baruhize on grounds that Rev. Baruhize was using him to take the charms to the archdeacon’s home.
Some time back, a oneTuryatemba was also dismissed from the church being accusing of procuring evil charms from a one Jackline Turyamwijuka.
The Christians also say their archdeacon Reverend Turyamureeba only visits the homes of Godfrey Twinamatsiko, D. Nimpamya, and F. Tugume and doesn’t visit other Christians as he accuses them of being witches because they are friends with Reverend Baruhize.
The Christians also complain that the fact that Kamuronko Primary School got 14 pupils in grade U in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations is attributed to the archdeacon and his faction who disrupt the pupils’ concentration as every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning they make a lot of noise as they pray in the school’s neighborhood.
They claim that they have tried on several occasions to ask the archdeacon and his group to stop but all he replies them is that “orenda kurwana, yaba arenda kurwana aije hanu” literally meaning that whoever wants a fight should go to him.
Chimpreports tried to contact the Kigezi diocese Bishop Rt. Reverend George Bagamuhunda for a comment but was at the time out of the country.
Kigezi diocese was also embroiled in leadership wrangles last year where a section of church members led by Leonard Tumwesigye dragged the province of the Church of Uganda and the Kigezi diocese to high court in Kabale over the election of Bishop George Bagamuhunda.
Their demand that court puts an injunction on Bp. Bagamuhunda’s enthronement and consecration was however quashed by the high court judge Justice Michael Elubu in a ruling.
