“On release, Odupa approached top officials from the police force and intimated them of rebel activities being carried out in Lira and cited top journalists and politicians in the Northern region,” explained a detective from police.

According to the detective, the 24-year-old further explained to police officers that the 50 newly-recruited rebels had been transported to Khartoum in Sudan where their purported training camp was located and could base there to carry out numerous attacks on Uganda.
“Detectives were sent to Lira to verify the information only to find the alleged recruiters had gathered for only leisure and the rumour about rebels was not true and we arrested Odupa,” explained a detective.
Possession of army uniform
Meanwhile, police detectives at SIU in Kireka have noted that Odupa has been conning people disguising as a soldier attached to the army and had a UPDF uniform he used to defraud the unsuspecting victims.
“He stole a military uniform from a female soldier attached to UPDF detach in Entebbe and opened up a face book account where he has been sending photos of himself donning the military attire and intimidating them,” explained officers from SIU.
The 24 year old according to police officers will be charged with offences including fraud, giving false information contrary to section 115 (c) of the penal code act, impersonation, unlawful possession of government stores and theft.
