He further noted that ICT has been incorporated in Uganda’s national education system and therefore many schools have computers but little has been done to enrich the teachers’ and students’ skills.

“The seasoned ICT researcher also highlighted that education is not just for the sake of cramming notes and obtaining grades but for self empowerment.,” Baryamureeba noted.

Barya also cautioned that it is not good to follow the common thinking that ICT is exclusively for the youth and that it should be used by everyone to approach day to day challenges.

The conference which was attended by over 1000 secondary school head teachers was organized by the Ministry of Education and Sports in conjunction with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Learn with Grandma and Kisubi Associated Writers Agency (KAWA) with an aim of promoting ICT education practices in Ugandan schools.
