He said funds for the main Kanungu-Rukungiri road have already been provided by the African Development Bank and arrangements for its reconstruction are already underway.
The President was speaking during a meeting with district leaders including the area MP Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, elders and the clergy from Kanungu District at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District on Tuesday.
The meeting was a follow up of an earlier meeting last year during which the district presented a proposal regarding the various enterprises they identified for promotion under the wealth creation campaign including tea and coffee production, poultry, animal husbandry and food production.
The President urged the leaders to promote cost effective enterprises such as bee keeping, poultry, piggery, fish ponds and fruit farming can all be done successfully on a few acres of land.
The Kanungu District LCV chairperson Josephine Katsya commended the President for his support towards the district including the provision of the 30 million tea seedlings that were supplied and planted.
These she said, have attracted another two tea processing factories.
She also thanked the President for the 5 million coffee seedlings, half of which have already been supplied while the other half will be provided in the next planting season.
She called on the President to support their heifer project for zero grazing and milk production and also the kroiler project for poultry production.
