FDC spokesperson Mr John Kikonyogo, told us that Birigwa cross over at a meeting held by the party officials in Nansana.

The blissful FDC officials also handed him two official FDC cards; the ordinary one at Sh 1000, and the platinum one which he bought at Sh 1,000,000.

The goodwill between Mr Birigwa and President Museveni had remained a thorn in the opposition’s flesh, with some alleging that his ambassadorial appointments were “Bribes” from the president.

As an envoy, the Birigwa is recognized for his tirelessly efforts to solicit for funding for his home country’s development programs especially in the area of infrastructure.

His admission at a financially stripped FDC will not be taken for granted: Mr Biriggwa is a known affluent man.

He is the former CEO of Celtel Uganda [Now Airtel], which for most of the late 1990s remained the country’s sole operator of the mobile telephones in Uganda

Through these years, Wasswa Birigwa was regarded as the mobile telephone revolutionary and a big asset to Buganda and Uganda.

Uganda faces Cameroon away between 12-14th February 2015 in the first leg before hosting the West Africans at a yet to be confirmed venue in seven days.

The winner over two legs will face Ghana for a slot in the finals that take place in April 2015 in Seychelles.

The summoned players are expected to start non-residential training on Tuesday 27th January 2015 before entering camp on 1st February 2015.
