Two armed thugs were shot dead when police foiled an attempted robbery yesterday at Kalandazi town in Mpigi district.
Police was tipped off that 4 suspected armed robbers were seen breaking into shops in the town hence launching the pursuit. During the fire exchange at Mitalamaliya where they were intercepted, website http://cigc.unimap.edu.my/components/com_k2/views/itemlist/view.html.php two of the four were shot dead.
“These suspected robbers were travelling in a Toyota Premio UAM282P, they were four, 2 escaped and one of them was a woman,” said Phillip Mukasa the police publicist Equator region.
“We shot dead the other two during the exchange and we recovered an AK47 with 12 rounds, various documents and a number plate UAR675K.”
“We suspect that as they carry out robberies, they keep switching these number plates to hide identity of the vehicle involved.”
Mukasa says that bodies which have not yet been identified have been taken to Mpigi hospital, as police searches for the other two who escaped.
