2 Congolese Arrested in Kabale  

The suspects at Kabale Police Station

Elias Bahati, rx 18 and Olivia Balume, ask 18, both residents of Bunagana, Rutshuru territory, North Kivu province in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo were arrested on Wednesday last week in Mwanjari, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.

The suspects were found with a bag containing nineteen mobile phones, medical equipment and rims of papers among other items.

These are believed to have been stealing the items by targeting people’s bags while in one of the supermarkets at Kabale Shopping Center for shopping. Patrick Muwole, a first year student at Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing was one of the victims.

Muwole says that on Wednesday this week he lost one bags containing academic documents, a blood pressure machine and other essential items while in the supermarket in Kabale.

Henry Aryang, the Officer – in-charge of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department-CIID at Kabale police station confirmed the arrest, and revealed that the suspects were found without any document authorizing them to be in Uganda.

Aryanga says that the third yet to be identified suspect who is part of the group still on the run. He says that after the completion of investigations, the suspects will appear before court to answer the charges accordingly.

The suspects are being held at Kabale Police Station under file number CRB3356/2016 and CRB3357/2016.

The suspects admitted to have been getting involved in acts of theft and asked for forgiveness.
