According to the report, a group of officers and trainees of Nuer ethnicity grabbed and shot dead four fellow trainees.

It is not clear what provoked the assault but the Military Police and other armed officers responded by returning fire since most of the soldiers at the training facility are unarmed, according to military sources.

Medical Corp officers also told the Courier that the Military hospital had received 150 bodies of mutinous troops.

“The situation has been brought under control and the facility is slowly returning back to normalcy,” the Divisional Command in Wau was quoted as saying.

It has become a trend for SPLA soldiers to go on rampage within their barracks killing fellow officers.

Last month, a drunk soldier from Tiger Division opened fire at Giada, injuring two and getting killed in the process.

Earlier, gunfire had broken out at a military barracks still at Giada south of Juba as soldiers protested delayed salaries.

SPLA commando units; Tiger Division and Jamus clashed along tribal lines; five commandos perished and three were reported wounded on spot.

Still counting, SPLA has just buried 65 officers but the number would later rise to over 100 dead bodies.

Likewise, at the start of the year, soldiers opened fire on civilians killing dozens in Juba leading to the arrest of about 100 officers.
