According to Francis Chemusto, the D.P.C Kabalagala Police Station, the little girl was last seen with her grandmother at 5pm on Thursday, but her body was discovered by children who were passing by the maize plantation at 2pm on Friday.

A police sniffer dog was brought to the crime scene but no results were achieved as the place harbours many drug addicts.

“Naziwa may have been defiled before being murdered, because preliminary investigations show that her genitals were touched,” said Chemusto.

“How can a three year-old be told to go back home alone yet the distance is over 200 meters?” wondered Chemusto cautioning parents against negligence.

Meanwhile, in Kabale, police are investigating circumstances under which a three yearold girl was poisoned.

The deceased, Daniela Ainomugisha, was a daughter to Silver Muhumuza, a businessman in Kabale town and a resident of Nkunda road Central ward division Kabale Municipality.

Ainomugisha, who died on the way to Rugarama hospital, is suspected to have been poisoned by a neighbour through soda.

Elly Matte, the Police Publicist, confirmed the incident and said that police was notified, the body was taken to Kabale referral hospital for a post-mortem.

“It’s very unfortunate for the young girl to die in such a way but the culprits will be brought to book.
