Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the deployment comes in the wake of heightened terror threats in the region.
“We call upon all stakeholders and proprietors of social places to be cautious of each and every attendant, because the threat of terrorism is real,” says Onyango.
Meanwhile, Police have also warned the general public on criminals waiting to pounce on them during this Easter season.
The public is called upon to be vigilant and that places of entertainment and worship should have enough security at the entrances and exits and should be well manned.
Onyango emphasises Police have deployed along most streets in the city, “so that people do their Easter shopping with little threat from thugs.”
Event organisers who did not seek permission from police are advised not to go on with the concerts because they will be cancelled, and all night clubs and bars are warned against noise pollution.
“All those intending to drink and drive are advised to have in company people who do not drink so as to drive them home safely,” warns Onyango.
