Photos: Mengo Unveils Plan For New Bulange Plaza

Speaking at Bulange gardens in Mengo, Mayiga tasked the committee to ensure that the construction of the plaza is successfully accomplished by August 2015.

“The main reason why we have decided to entrust the construction of Bulange Plaza to this very team of Masiro Gwanga Mujje, is because they have successfully accomplished the work we entrusted them with at Kasubi. We can’t neglect such a winning team.”


He encouraged the committee to work hard and remain transparent while on duty.

The Katikiro officially announced that the collection of “a brick” (Ettofaali) for Kasubi tombs has ended but the new fundraising drive which is going to start will be for financing this Shs 6bn project of the construction of Bulange Plaza.


The structure that will be renovated

Bulange Plaza is the unfinished building in Bulange compound which has survived for over 35 years, it was constructed by the former Ugandan President Idi Amin Dada when most of Buganda property including Bulange, which was a Republic house by then, were still under the administration of the central government.
