Kabale University Students Jailed 8 Years For Murder

Court also heard that Cosmas Turyatunga, the deceased, together with Sympathy Akampurira were playing with their girl friends; Sheila Kyokusiima and Aisha Kyomugisha, something that angered the university boys.


Nabasa and Amutuhaire ambushed Turyatunga and clobbered him to death.


Their defence lawyer, Justus Muhangi of Kasaija, asked court to give them a lenient sentence but justice Elubu instead sent them to Ndorwa government prison to serve a sentence of eight (8) years each so that they act as examples to others.


The same court also sentenced a 40 year-old woman identified as Charity Kyomuhangi for slaughtering her husband, Turyamureba Birigita.

Kyomuhangi committed the crime while at her home in Nyakabungo cell, Kyabuhangwa parish in Kamwezi sub county on June 8, 2013.


Justice Elubu, quoted sections 188 and 189 of the penal code act, thus sentencing her to six years to Ndorwa government prison.


High Court also sentenced a 20 year-old man, Bosco Kitabire, to 15 years in prison for assaulting and raping a 54 year-old woman.

Kitabire committed the crime on March 17, 2014, at around 11:00pm while the victim, Jane Nyabonera, was coming from Ahabubare trading centre in Bigaga parish Butanda subcouty Kabale district.


He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
