He maintained that having presidential ambitions does not break the law.
“There is nothing morally or legally wrong with harbouring Presidential ambitions in Uganda,” said Mbabazi.
Asked to explain the alleged bad blood with the President, Mbabazi said he does not see anything wrong.
“We are in agreement on everything. I do not know of any difference between the President and myself,” said Mbabazi.
He also denied receiving money to launch a presidential bid, challenging critics to provide evidence to back the claims.
“If I want to seek a Presidential vote, I will tell you,” said Mbabazi.
The NRM retreat in Kyankwanzi resolved to front Museveni as the part’s sole candidate in the 2016 elections.
However, Mbabazi said that was the MPs’ opinion and that the resolution has no legal backing since the genuine flag-bearers of the party will be decided by the Delegates’ Conference.
Several party officials who have tried to campaign for Mbabazi have been arrested for acts of bribery.
